First Eucharist

Home / Sacraments / First Eucharist

First Communion means making a commitment to receiving Jesus in the Sacrament every Sunday for the rest of one’s life. It is important for parents to attend Mass on a regular basis with your child to emphasize this commitment.

First Eucharist Information at Regina Coeli

In the Roman Catholic Church the sacrament of First Eucharist is the second of the Sacraments of Initiation. For children, preparation is done through either Regina Coeli School in grades one and two, or by attending the parish religious education program, CCD. Students in CCD must attend both 1st and 2nd grade classes.  This instruction also includes preparation for the Sacrament of Reconciliation.

Preparation in the 2nd grade for children includes:

  • Receiving the Sacrament of Reconciliation
  • Participating in a Retreat Day

Parents are required to attend two meetings – one on Reconciliation and one on Holy Eucharist
